“Long Days Journey into Night” at South Street Players

“Long Days Journey into Night”
by Eugene O'Neill

In the space of one day we are given the tortured family background which created the elusive, yet magnificent, talent of the author. The proceedings take place in the living room of a summer house in 1912. The mother ravaged by drug addiction. The embittered alcoholic father. The maladjusted brothers. All four come to life with almost frightening fidelity. Emotions rise and fall with the absurd devotion to trivialities which provoke so many quarrels.
