“The Scene” at George Street Playhouse

“The Scene”
by Theresa Rebeck

Charlie is a talented, yet unemployed actor who rails daily against the soulless emptiness of "the biz." Stella is his wife of fourteen years who rules the world with phone lists and highlighters. Together they have the perfect life -- perhaps too perfect.

Charlie’s life is blown apart when he meets Clea, a 20-something fresh off the bus from Ohio with voracious appetite for men and a ditzy combination of worldliness and naïveté. In a little black dress, she predatorily stalks her way into his life, fulfilling his fantasies — but leaving him feeling emptier than ever. But perhaps that was what he wanted all along....
