“Love To All, Lorraine ” at Passage Theatre Company

“Love To All, Lorraine ”
by Elizabeth Van Dyke

Lorraine Hansberry was the youngest person and first African-American to have a play produced on Broadway when A Raisin in the Sun premiered in 1959. In this inspiring story based on Hansberry's letters and interviews with her family, Elizabeth Van Dyke (best known for her portrayal of Zora Neale Hurston ) brings this gifted author to life. Her exceptional childhood, when her family moved into a “whites-only” neighborhood, shaped her writing. We also meet her mentors, family friends Langston Hughes, W.E.B DuBois and Paul Robeson, who inspired her to write about the black experience in a way that changed the world.
