Written in 410 BC, Aristophenes’s play tells the story of a group of women in the war-torn Greek city-states who take an oath to deprive their husbands of sex until they sign a lasting peace treaty.
Here at Princeton University, a group of students, faculty and members of the greater Princeton community will be staging the reading, followed by an audience discussion about the war moderated by Reverend Robert Moore. There will be no charge for admission, but audience members will be encouraged to give a donation of any amount. All proceeds from this event will go to MADRE, an international women's human rights organization, and support their "Every Child Has A Name" project which sends milk and medicine to children in Iraq. This event is sponsored by the Princeton Peace Network and the International Center.
