Set in an "all-colored" Indiana town in post-Reconstruction 1880.The town has managed to become prosperous and suddenly its people are faced with threats to their sense of community by the arrival of a stranger. Issues of loyalty, pride and trust all become part of the stuggle as a love story emerges, and all the characters pursue their hope for a better day.
