“Vagrants in Love” at Mystic Theater

“Vagrants in Love”
by Ken Gaertner

A comedy in verse - follows two homeless men, who are in love at a distance with a fashion model. Entranced by her beauty the vagrants act as her knights protector. The model, undergoing a spiritual crisis, converts to a religion based on joy and laughter. The laugh lines appearing in her face destroy the model's once smooth visage, which horrifies the vagrants. The vagrants must employ desperate measures to return the model to her cool, blase' composure. Reminiscent of Beckett and Ionesco, Vagrants in Love zeroes in at the point where belief and beauty intersect. Vagrants promises to place the characters of Norman and Willie alongside Didi and Gogo in the pantheon of well loved theatre bums.
