Doug's award‑winning plays and musicals have been produced across the country and overseas. His comedy‑drama Could I Have This Dance? was named "Best Play" of 1991‑92 by The American Theatre Critics Association and is included in the Otis Gurnsey BEST PLAYS OF 91‑92 anthology. Dance premiered in Los Angeles at the Colony Theatre, then opened Off‑Broadway at the Village Theatre Company and then played downunder in Melbourne, Australia at the Athenaeum 2. Two Haverty plays, Aftershocks and Death Defying Acts, premiered in New York at the Long Island Stage. His musical, Inside Out (co‑written with Adryan Russ), played Off-Broadway at The Cherry Lane Theatre and the Original Cast Recording was released worldwide on DRG Records. His works have been presented at the Phoenix Theatre, Sarasota's Florida Studio Theatre and Atlanta's On‑The‑Square Theatre, just to name a few. Inside Out has been published by Samuel French as well as his most popular play, In My Minds Eye, both of which premiered in Los Angeles at the Group Repertory Theatre, Doug's newest play, Come Baby, Cradle and All just premiered in Los Angeles at Betty Garrett's Theatre West featuring Lee Meriwether, Doug has studied playwriting with: Lonny Chapman, Oliver Hailey and Gardner McKay. He studied the art of writing musicals with Stephen Schwartz and Lehman Engel. Doug currently co‑moderates the Writer's Workshop at Theatre West in Los Angeles.
