Needed are 3 actors to fill the following roles ...
• Daisy Werthan (ages 72-97) a strong willed retired school teacher.

• Hoke Coleburn (ages 60-85) a Southern black man with great sensitivity, intelligence and integrity.

• Boolie Werthan (ages 40-65) Daisy’s son, a successful Atlanta businessman.

WHEN:
Monday May 5th from 7:30 to 9:30 PM
& Saturday May 10th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM

At the Center Playhouse

WHAT TO DO/BRING:
* Please prepare a short monologue to perform.

Bill Russell - 50s, serious, conscientious candidate for President

Alice, his wife - similar character, uncomfortable with public life

Dick Jensen, 40s - his campaign manager, intense, devoted, apprehensive

Catherine, 20s - aide

Joe Cantwell, 40s - attractive, ambitious, hard-driving, two-faced, slight
Southern accent

Mabel, his wife - similar character, loves the limelight

Bill Blades, his campaign manager - attentive, adaptable

Mike, 20's - aide

Arthur Hochstader, 70s - former President, alert, powerful, rural American
accent

Mrs. Gamadge, 50s - "Voice of the American Woman", confident, cozy but
demanding.

Senator Carlin, 50s - politician

Sheldon Marcus, 40s - plump, balding, nervous

Dr. Artinian, 50s - distinguished-looking psychiatrist

Four reporters including a photograher, 20s-30s, two male, two female;
double as delegates

PLOT SUMMARY

1960 campaign for President of the USA, party convention. Timely. Two
leading candidates in close race, need the women's vote and the
endorsement of popular former president.

Show runs in July.

JERSEY VOICES 

 

Chatham Players announces upcoming auditions on Sunday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 20, 2005 at 7 p.m. for JERSEY VOICES-14th Annual One Act Play Festival.

* Auditions on May 18 will be held at The Chatham Playhouse--23 North Passaic Ave.--Chatham, NJ.

* Auditions on May 20 will be held at the Chatham United Methodist Church460 Main St.Chatham, NJ

 

 All types and ages are needed for an eclectic group of plays - ranging in age from 16 to 60s.
Monologues up to 2 minutes are accepted, and/or sides will be provided.

Mel Torme: Mature male, 50's-60's (doesn’t need to sing); "The Velvet Fog", possibly the best male singing voice of his generation. Has a light touch, perhaps a little oily.

Eddie Coleman: Mature man 60, an ex trumpet player with regrets.

Eddie Jr: Male early 30's, a thought full young man.

Receptionist: Female, mature, business like.

Mausoleum Director: Either sex, just doing his or her job. Possibly officious.

Janitor: Male, very flexible age. Just a good Samaritan. Good sense of rhythm helpful

CDC Community Theatre is casting Urinetown, the Musical by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollman. Directed by Becky Randazzo, Music Direction by Paul Budd, Choreography by Megan Ferentinos , Produced by Elizabeth Howard and John Menter as Consulting Director. Auditions will be held at the CDC Theatre, 78 Winans Ave., Cranford, NJ on Sunday, June 8th at 1:00pm and Monday, June 9th at 7:00pm. Please come prepared to sing an up-tempo show tune. Actors may sing a song from the show if desired. You may be asked to learn a dance combination and read from the script. Please dress appropriately. Specific casting needs are: Officer Lockstock - policeman, narrator (20-50 Bass) Little Sally- precocious girl played by an adult, narrates (18-30 Mezzo/ Alto) Bobby Strong-noble young everyman (20-30s Baritone Tenor with belt) Caldwell B.
