Charlie Deitz Biography

Charlie Deitz
Charlie Deitz

Since his return to the acting craft in the mid-90’s, Charlie has formed a living symbiotic relationship with the stage. Just as he gives life to the characters he portrays, those characters return sustenance to his spirit. The metronomic rhythm of his humdrum daily existence is interspersed with a kaleidoscope of adventurous forays into the circumstances of the roles he assumes. It is this give-and-take that enlivens his spirit and ensures his long-term relationship with the theater. In recent reincarnations, he has abandoned a busload of tourists in rural Mexico (Night of the Iguana), discovered mendacity in his family (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), given a friend a place to stay (Odd Couple), hidden his family from the Nazis (Diary of Anne Frank), lost his dog (Of Mice and Men) and found God when he learned he has AIDS (Raft of the Medusa). A member of New Jersey Repertory Company, Charlie taps into comedy, drama, and musicals with equal enthusiasm, giving as much as he receives. He thanks his wife Diane and their four loving children for allowing him the time to pursue this love.
